Rig Worker Dies in Accident Offshore Australia
A rig worker on the Ensco 56 jackup was killed when a storage container on which he was working fell off the rig. The incident occurred approximately 10:45pm local time, Friday, February 14th. The jackup was working for Apache at the Dawn-1 exploration well in block TL/1 in state waters between Barrow and Varanus Islands near Dampier.
Inspectors from the Western Australia Department of Industry and Resources have been dispatched to the rig to conduct a full investigation. This is the first offshore Fatality in Western Australia's petroleum industry since 1994.
