SMOE Clinches Another North Sea Platform Contract
SMOE Pte Ltd, the Oil and Gas division of SembCorp Utilities, has been awarded a second contract for an offshore production platform by Maersk Oil. The platform will be located in the Dan FG Field in Danish waters in a water depth of approximately 40 meters. The contract is SMOE's third contract for Maersk Oil and second in the North Sea.
SMOE was awarded their first North Sea contract by Maersk Oil, a 7,100 metric ton oil production topside and bridged linked living quarters for the Halfdan Field in November last year. The structures are due for completion in the first quarter of 2003.
In the recently awarded Dan FG project SMOE will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, load-out and transportation of the process/utility deck, jacket, cantilevered flare structure and bridge. Scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2004, the combined structures will have a total weight of more than 10,300 metric tons. The topside processing facilities will be capable of production rates of 240 million standard cubic feet of gas per day as well as accommodating 75,000 barrels per day of produced water.
"We are very excited by this repeat order from Maersk Oil for another North Sea platform. This demonstrates not only our ability to win work against tough international competition but also Maersk Oil's confidence in our capabilities shown by our work on the Halfdan Project. Installations in the North Sea are recognised for their stringent design and fabrication requirements and uncompromising high standards of quality and safety. It shows that SMOE is capable of competing with the very best in delivering high quality products, on a tight schedule and at competitive prices", Mr. M. P. Premraj, Executive Vice President of SMOE, said.
