A subsidiary of PetroChina, The Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting, has put a stop to seismic survey work at the Sui field in Pakistan because of security issues. Operations have been on hold since January and a date to continue operations has not been established. Officials from the Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting are waiting for updates on the security situation from Pakistan Petroleum Limited, the operator of the field.
PetroChina has three seismic teams working on various oil and gas project in Pakistan. BGP was awarded the survey contract for the Sui field in 2001 and so far has only been able to complete 10% of the work.
