The Vickie Tide, constructed by C&G Shipyard of Mobile, Ala., is the first of a new class of vessel designed by Tidewater that can carry liquid mud below deck, dry bulk and cargo on deck while traveling at speeds in excess of 20 knots.
The Vickie Tide has four Cummins KTA-50 engines and is outfitted with dynamic positioning technology. The vessel's clear deck space is 29 feet wide and 100 feet long and can carry up to 36 passengers.
"I believe these new vessels will set the standard for how future fast supply vessels in the oil service industry are designed and utilized," said Stephen W. Dick, Executive Vice President of Operations for the North Sea, West Africa and North America. "This vessel has the speed, the capacity and the versatility to be used on a variety of projects. We believe our customers are going to be very pleased with how these new vessels perform."
Three more sister vessels are currently under construction at C&G with planned deliveries throughout the remainder of 2003.
