Commitment to Safety Pays Off: BJ Goes 10 Years Without Lost-Time Incident
BJ Services Company (UK) Limited announced an historic HSE milestone for its Marine Base in Great Yarmouth, England: 10 years without a single accident or incident resulting in a Lost Time Incident (LTI).
In recognition of this outstanding achievement, the company presented the BJ Excellence in Safety Award to Andrew McDowell, district operations manager.
Upon receiving the award McDowell said, "This is a significant achievement for an operations base of this size, working in the sometimes hostile and extremely hazardous conditions that arise in the UK's oil and gas industry. I would like to extend my thanks to each and every employee without whose continued vigilance, safe working, and attention to all safety policies and procedures this achievement would not have been possible. I encourage everyone to continue to work safely."
Well Services personnel who work at the Great Yarmouth Marine Base provide coiled tubing, cementing and underbalanced drilling services throughout the Southern North Sea and Liverpool Bay. These services are supplied to numerous clients - both on and offshore - to ensure that wells produce at an optimum rate.
The safety performance criteria include all onshore maintenance and offshore operations, with all personnel exhibiting solid teamwork and a high level of safety awareness and related HSE standards.
BJ's commitment to the highest levels of Quality, Health, Safety & Environment standards has helped the base earn ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation over the years. This latest achievement confirms the Company's dedication to safely protecting its employees, customers, suppliers and the surrounding environment.
"BJ's Well Services group in Great Yarmouth has a long-standing reputation for excellent safety management, so it comes as no surprise that they have succeeded in achieving 10 years without a single lost time injury," said Colin Davies, HSE Europe & Africa region manager. "Heartfelt congratulations to all Marine Base staff," he added.
Established in Great Yarmouth in 1969, BJ employs more than 30 staff locally, as well as through subcontracting agreements with numerous local firms.
