Nine Operators Submit Bids in Norwegian Licensing Round

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced that nine companies had submitted bids for the 109 new exploration blocks on offer in its 2002 North Sea Licensing round. Awards will be announced this spring.

The companies applying for the block were Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Agip, DNO, ExxonMobil, DONG, OER Oil, Paladin and RWE-DEA.

"The government has opened for allocations of 109 blocks in the 2002 North Sea round. We want to lay the grounds for realizing the value of the small and medium-size fields on the mature parts of the continental shelf," Norwegian Oil and Energy Minister Einar Steensnaes said.
