Triton Energy Ltd. has acquired a 38 percent interest in two blocks offshore Gabon, the Tolo and Otiti blocks. Its partners in the blocks are BHP and Sasol, a South African company. The agreement is subject to approval from the government of Gabon. Several prospects have been defined and evaluated using 3D seismic. Drilling is expected to being in the first half of 2001 on the Tolo Block which has water depths of up to 5,400 feet. The blocks cover about 1.7 million acres and represent an extension of the successful Ceiba discovery offshore Equatorial Guinea. Water depths for the entire two blocks range from 650 feet to 6,500 feet.
