John C. Higgins has been named President of the newly formed Murphy Exploration & Production Company - USA and David M. Wood has been named President of the newly formed Murphy Exploration & Production Company - International. Both moves will be effective concurrent with the retirement of Enoch L. Dawkins, President of Murphy Exploration & Production Company, on March 1, 2003. Dawkins retires after having completed 39 years of service with the Company.
Higgins joined Murphy in April 1990 as a geologist and was promoted to Manager, Gulf of Mexico Exploration in August 1993 and to Vice President, U.S. Exploration in October 1995. In November 1998, Higgins was promoted to Sr. Vice President, U.S. Exploration & Production. He holds a bachelor's degree in earth science from the University of New Orleans.
In his new position, Higgins will be responsible for all exploration and production activities in the United States, excluding Alaska.
Wood joined the Murphy enterprise in December 1994 as Manager of Frontier Exploration. In October 1995 he was promoted to General Manager, Frontier Exploration and in August 1997 to Vice President, Frontier Exploration & Production. In March 1999, he was promoted to Sr. Vice President of Frontier Exploration & Production. He holds a bachelor's degree in geology from Nottingham University in England.
In his new position, Wood will be responsible for all exploration and production activities outside North America and will maintain responsibility for the Company's efforts in Alaska.
Both new companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of Murphy Oil Corporation. Higgins, Wood and Harvey Doerr, President of Murphy Oil Company, Ltd., will report directly to Claiborne P. Deming, President and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil Corporation.
