Accommodation specialist HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services Company, has won a custom-manufacturing deal with Transocean, formerly Global SantaFe, for its operations at Rio Del Rey, offshore Cameroon, West Africa.
HB Rentals' Aberdeen manufacturing base is producing the made-to-measure sleeper module, which takes up the smallest deck area available in the industry, for installation on the Transocean High Island VII.
Members of Transocean's hull preservation team will use the four-bed cabin, which features a pair of two-bed units linked by an en-suite bathroom which includes shower, wash basin and toilet.
The A60 fire-rated unit complies with the latest SOLAS and IMO regulations and will be approved by ABS before installation on the jack-up High Island VII in early 2008.
Europe and Asia sales director for HB Rentals, Craig Russell, said: "We are ideally placed to help meet the challenges brought by the often severe space constraints which exploration and production operators are increasingly forced to deal with offshore.
"Transocean required a high-specification new-build unit which complies with the exacting safety standards without compromise due to the limited amount of space on the rig.
"This four-man unit occupies the smallest footprint available, slotting into the limited real estate plan on the High Island VII. We have a fleet of similar modules already on a rental contract to BP at its Lomond Platform in the UKCS, which were selected for their minimum footprint and health and safety regulation compliance."
HB Rentals is the world's largest unique supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules, operating from three major global hubs in Broussard, Louisiana, US; Aberdeen, Scotland and Singapore.
The global specialist includes the European, American, South East Asian and Australasian operations of the former Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which it acquired in January 2007.
