DONG Completes the Cecilie-2 Appraisal Well

DONG has completed the appraisal well Cecilie-2 (5604/20-9) at the Cecilie Field in the North Sea. The well was drilled with the jack-up rig ENSCO 70. The well was spudded December 24, 2002 in approximately 60 meters of water.

Cecilie-2 was drilled as a vertical well and reached total depth at 2347 meters below mean sea level in chalk of Maastrichtian age. The well penetrated the paleocene oil-bearing sandstone reservoir 1.2 kilometers south-east of Cecilie-1, the discovery well drilled in year 2000. The new information from the well will be used in the planning of the production wells to be drilled. Expected production start for Cecilie is August 2003.

Cecilie-2 has now been plugged and abandoned. The ENSCO 70 rig will be moved to license 4/95 in order to drill the first of the Nini Field development wells.

The 16/98 license group consists of the following companies: DONG as operator with 22%; Denerco Oil A/S with 37%; Denerco Petroleum A/s with 24% and RWE-DEA AG with the remaining 17%.
