Petrobras Signs Contract to Build Hull for P-55
The agreement for the construction of the hull for platform P-55, to be installed in the Roncador field, was signed on December 12, 2007 with the Atlantico Sul Shipyard. Pernambuco State Governor, Eduardo Campos, and Petrobras directors Renato Duque, for the Service, and Guilherme Estrella, for the Exploration and Production department, attended the ceremony.
Petrobras' executive manager for Engineering, Pedro Barusco, signed the agreement on Petrobras' behalf, while Paulo Hadad and Erik Guadalupe signed for the Atlantico Sul Shipyard.
The P-55's hull blocks will be built at the Atlantico Sul Shipyard, in Suape. Meanwhile, the hull will be assembled and piping and auxiliary structures will be made at the Rio Grande dry dock. The executive project and equipment and material procurement will begin in January; piping construction services will be started in August, in Rio Grande do Sul; and, finally, block manufacturing is expected to begin in November, in Pernambuco. The project is expected to create 1,100 jobs at Rio Grande do Sul and Pernambuco. Total investment in the project is estimated at $392.6 million.
The total weight of the P-55 hull will be 22,000 tons. The platform has a base dimension of 94 x 94 meters with a height of 44 meters. Total production capacity will be 180,000 bpd.
