Maersk Oil Successful Bidder on Four Brazilian Blocks

Maersk Oil has participated in the ninth Brazilian oil and gas exploration license round and was successful in four bids.

Maersk Oil was awarded blocks C-M-560 and C-M-591 in the South Campos basin as operator (50% interest) together with OGX (50% interest). The blocks cover an area of approximately 360 square kilometers, situated some 100 kilometers southeast off the coast of Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of 100 - 150 meters. The commitment comprises acquisition of 3D seismic data and drilling of two exploration wells.

Further, Maersk Oil was awarded blocks S-M-791 and S-M-792 in the South Santos basin (30% interest) together with Petrobras (Operator, 40% interest) and CVRD (30% interest). The blocks cover an area of approximately 360 square kilometers, situated some 150 kilometers southeast off the coast of São Paulo at a water depth of 100 - 150 meters. The commitment comprises acquisition of 3D seismic data and drilling of one exploration well in each block.

Maersk Oil is currently active in Brazil in block BM-S-29 as operator (100% interest), situated some 130 kilometers southeast off the coast of Sao Paulo.
