The Gullfaks A platform located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea has been shut after a crack in a weld on the flare system was discovered. Production from the Visund field has also been shut in since it is tied to Gullfaks A. A routine inspection on Friday revealed the problem. Production is expected to re-start on Wednesday of this week. The entire Gullfaks complex produces approximately 240,000 bpd, but only some 130,000 bpd is affected by the shut in. Visund produces approximately 35,000 bpd.
