Ocean Mainport Completes 3 Million Pounds Investment in the Ocean Swan

Ocean Mainport Rescue has just completed an investment of 3 million pounds in a new addition to its fleet. The "Ocean Swan" has already been contracted out as a stand-by vessel to Nexen Petroleum U.K. Limited for up to 3 years.

The Aberdeen operation of the Ocean Mainport Group has added Ocean Swan to its existing fleet of 10 ships. The fleet operates in both the UK and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea - Ocean Swan has been registered under the UK Flag and is equipped with both Daughter Craft & Fast Rescue Craft.

John Bryce, managing director, Ocean Mainport Rescue Ltd, said: "Our investment in Ocean Swan is a significant development for the company. We are delighted to have invested back into the Scottish shipping industry, with the majority of the conversion work on the vessel being carried out in Glasgow by Ferguson Shipbuilders. We also aim to continue to build on the excellent team we have operating our vessels who are predominantly British seafarers. A high standard of personnel for our clients is essential and we continue to focus on providing the highest quality service for our customers."

The Ocean Mainport Group acquired the UK operations and ERRV assets of Havila Shipping earlier this year and the Aberdeen arm expanded into new premises last month. The groupís aim has been to continue to expand its standby and emergency response capabilities within both the Norwegian and British sector of the North Sea, and to be able to provide cross-border solutions reflecting the needs of its clients.

Ocean Mainport Group provides multi-role offshore and Emergency Rescue and Response vessels for many of the oil majors operating in the North Sea and has a fleet of 17 vessels with one further ship on order and due for delivery next year.
