Algeria to Offer 10-15 Blocks in January Licensing Round

RIYADH Nov 16, 2007 (Dow Jones Newswires)

Algeria will offer 10 to 15 new, mostly gas, blocks in a licensing round to be held in January, Oil Minister Chakib Khelil said Friday.

"The new round will be in January. We will probably be offering 10 to 15 blocks," Khelil told reporters on the sidelines of an Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries heads of state summit in the Saudi Arabian capital.

Khelil said that Algeria would be looking for partners that would bring technology and management expertise to the developments, not necessarily cash.
