The company, whose headquarters are in Aberdeen, Scotland, has had a successful year and has doubled its workforce in the past twelve months with seventy new appointments. The Gulf of Mexico contract will be coordinated from iicorr's Houston base and will take place over a 2-month period. It is believed to be the first time a contract for this highly specialized technology has been awarded for this pipeline infrastructure.
Roddy James, president, iicorr Inc, said: "We are delighted to have won this contract – it is another example of how companies such as iicorr are transferring North Sea expertise globally. Our Houston office has given us a solid base to expand from and this project highlights iicorr's advanced technology and high-end corrosion engineering knowledge.
He added: "We have had a successful year with a number of large contract wins – this has enabled us to recruit over seventy people internationally. With our center of excellence launching next year in the UK, we are well placed to become the global leaders in integrity, inspection and corrosion services."
iicorr was recently recognized for its achievement in internationalization at the Northern Star Business awards 2007. The company has grown its oversees sales to £8.2million and in the past 12 months, iicorr has entered a number of countries including Brazil, Canada, Egypt, UAE, Italy and South Africa.
