Shell Todd Oil Services (STOS), which operates the Maui permit on behalf of Shell Exploration New Zealand (83.75% interest), OMV (10%) and Todd Energy (6.25%) is also operator of the new PEP 38 1203.
STOS is required as part of the permit work program to reprocess and interpret 50 square kilometers of 3D seismic data covering part of the new permit, which was acquired by the company as part of an earlier 3D Maui survey.
An exploration well to target the Cape Egmont fault zone play may be drilled within three years, the work program says.
STOS last year successfully drilled two wells near the Ihi fault using a drill rig mounted on the Maui A platform.
