CNOOC Makes Indonesian Discovery

CNOOC Limited has successfully completed the KE 40-2 appraisal well on the KE 40 prospect on the Madura Block offshore Indonesia.

KE 40-2 was drilled to a total depth of 7225 feet and encountered 174 feet of gas pay in the Kujung I carbonate build-up and 28 feet of oil pay in the Kujung III limestones. During drill stem tests, pay zones in the Kujung III limestones flowed 1430 barrels of oil and 6.86 million cubic feet of gas per day on 64/64" choke. The well was drilled with the CNOOC's jackup, Bohai IV.

The Company has a 25 % working interest in the Block operated by Kodeco Energy Company, Ltd.
