Hurricane Lorenzo Downgraded to Tropical Storm

The National Hurricane Center reports that Hurricane Lorenzo has weakened into a tropical storm after losing strength once it made landfall in eastern Mexico. Lorenzo had strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane early Friday as it headed for Mexico's Gulf Coast. Authorities evacuated around 100,000 people in the low-lying coast communities. The Mexican Government has issued a tropical storm warning from Veracruz northward to Cabo Rojo. As of 7 am CDT the storm was about 40 miles south-southwest of Tuxpan, Mexico and moving at approximately 7 mph with winds of 40 mph.
