HB Rentals’ Aberdeen manufacturing facility is delivering the high specification, 32ft x 11ft eight-man sleeper cabins to Egypt for Diamond in a deal worth (USD) $320,000 (GBP £160,000) on an initial 12 month contract with further options to extend.
They will be installed on the Ocean Lexington semi-submersible rig, currently operating a 36 month drilling program in the Mediterranean for BP.
The units will provide supplementary accommodation whilst refurbishment and upgrading work is carried out on the Lexington’s existing accommodation.
HB Rentals’ regional business development manager, Mark Slater, said: "Diamond had a quick-delivery requirement, which we were able to meet thanks to our continued fleet build program, and the units were modified quickly to suit their needs. We have worked to a tight schedule, having just three weeks notice to prepare the units."
The modules are being shipped from HB Rentals’ base in Aberdeen directly to Egypt, before being transported to the Ocean Lexington and final installation and commissioning.
Mr Slater added: "We are working with Diamond and BP across the world on their projects and we are especially pleased that they have again selected our brand new linkable accommodation units for this long-term contract in the Mediterranean".
HB Rentals is the world’s largest supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules, operating from three major global hubs in Broussard, Louisiana, US; Aberdeen, Scotland and Singapore.
The global specialist includes the European, South East Asian and Australasian operations of the former Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which it acquired in January 2007 in a £23.7 million ($47 million) deal.
