Petrofac and Nebosh Pilot New Oil & Gas Safety Qualification

Petrofac Training

Petrofac Training says that it is to pilot a new oil & gas safety qualification for NEBOSH (the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health).

The qualification is aimed at helping managers and supervisors in the oil & gas industry to manage their health and safety responsibilities.

Teresa Budworth, chief executive of NEBOSH, explains: "Our National General Certificate is the most widely taken accredited safety qualification in the UK and possibly the world. More than 120,000 people have achieved the National Certificate or the International version. We have found that it is extremely popular in the oil and gas sector, and increasingly we are being asked for a qualification which addresses the specific needs of this industry."

Leigh Howarth, managing director of Petrofac Training, continues: "We have a worldwide reputation for the quality of our health and safety training, and we are delighted that NEBOSH chose to partner with us on this exciting development. The pilot course starts in January 2008 and will be held at our training centers in Aberdeen and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Initially it will be aimed at those people who already hold a NEBOSH qualification to enable them to "convert" to the specialist oil and gas qualification."
