HB Rentals Inks $8 Million Deal with BG in Trinidad
HB Rentals (HBR) is providing two large-scale living complexes on the Dolphin platform in the developing East Coast Marine Area production zone offshore Trinidad in a deal worth more than (USD) $8million (GBP £4million).
An initial delivery of four of HBR’s linkable 12-man sleeper units, along with a pair of fully customizable 20ft x 8ft engineering cabins outfitted as a recreation space and a laundry room, has already been installed on the Dolphin platform.
The 48-man facility will remain on board until a second, larger complex is delivered in around two months time, when it will be decommissioned and shipped to HBR’s Trinidad fleet base. The deal runs for an initial two years, with options to extend.
HBR’s second, larger complex is a fully self-contained living quarters package comprising the main support grillage, six 12 bed sleeping modules, a galley diner, recreation facility, office space, laundry, medic facility and a gymnasium.
Glenn Aguilar, director of US offshore sales and marketing for HB Rentals, said: "These are major agreements with BG Group in Trinidad, and we are delighted to be further expanding our client list in the developing Caribbean area.
"Our sister company in Trinidad, Imperial Snubbing Services, played an integral role in winning these contracts amongst fierce international competition.
"ISS will provide ongoing support to BG in addition to delivery, installation and commissioning of the packages."
A fully compliant CAP 437 helideck and support structure will also be installed onto the 25-module complex, along with all external walkways, landings, handrails and ancillary equipment for interface with the platform systems.
It is also supplied with a range of purpose-built utility modules at main deck level providing power generation, electrical and instrumentation distribution, water making facilities, sewage treatment and a suite of workshops for mechanical and electrical disciplines.
Options are included in the contract whereby HBR will relocate the 72-bed complex from the Dolphin platform to the Poinsettia field, located 40 km off the North Coast of Trinidad.
The fully customizable high specification accommodation, built to withstand the toughest offshore conditions, is US coastguard approved and meets the latest A60 fire regulations.
Mr. Aguilar adds: "One of the key drivers for BG was our ability to provide a turnkey package including design, engineering and regulatory approvals combined with standard and custom modules available from stock at our base in Broussard, Louisiana.
"We are currently in the middle of a massive new-build program to increase our A60 module fleet size and maximize our customer support network throughout the Americas."
HB Rentals now serves every region of the oil and gas industry from global hubs at Broussard, Aberdeen in Scotland and in Singapore.
The global specialist includes the European, South East Asian and Australasian operations of Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which it acquired in January 2007 in a £23.7 million ($47 million) deal.
