Harriet Joint Venture Comes Up Dry with Tirari-1 Well
The Tirari-1 well was drilled to a total depth of 1,875 meters measured depth and is currently being plugged and abandoned. The well is located in TL/1, 3 kilometers from the Simpson B platform. The top of the Flag sandstone reservoir was intersected at a depth of 1,837 meters measured depth. Although good reservoir quality sandstone was intersected, a hydrocarbon column was not encountered.
The Tirari prospect was interpreted as a small closed trap nearby to the Simpson oil field, and if successful could have been brought on to production quickly. Several other locations have been identified in the Simpson area for drilling in first quarter of 2003. The results of this well, although disappointing, have not altered the mapping of these other prospects.
The Ensco 56 jackup will now move off location to drill 3 to 4 other wells and will return late in December to drill the Montgomery-1 well in WA-149-P and Toobada-1 in WA-192-P, after which a number of wells will be drilled within the HJV permits.
Participants in the Harriet Joint Venture are Apache as Operator with 68.5%; Kufpec with 19.2771% and Tap Oil with 12.2229%.
