Exports Unaffected by Burgan Field Fire
Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Kuwait Oil Company shutdown the number 4 gathering station for the Burgan oilfield due to a fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon. Burgan Field is the second largest field in the world, producing 1.25 million barrels of oil per day. The fire was extinguished later the same day and exports were not affected, as they were able to compensate from other areas.
The fire was caused by a leak in a pump line and the number 4 gathering station was shut down as a precaution. Four people, including three firefighters were injured in the blaze.
