Brazil's Supreme Court Clears Final Hurdle for Round 8

Brazil's supreme court (STF) has overturned the last injunction that was blocking the eighth hydrocarbons exploration licensing round.

Lawyers from the country's hydrocarbons regulator ANP had asked the supreme court to overturn the injunction, which was filed by engineers from Rio de Janeiro, STF said in a statement.

The supreme court last month overturned a similar injunction, arguing the suspension of round eight put national security at risk.

The eighth round probably will take place before the ninth, which is scheduled for November 27-28, ANP director Nelson Narciso told journalists last month.

In the eighth round, 23 companies won 38 blocks before the injunction suspended the auction.
