Industrial Nanotech Develops Coating for Undersea Oil and Gas Pipelines
Industrial Nanotech has developed a thermally insulating, corrosion resistant coating for use on underwater oil and gas pipelines.
The newest addition to our patented line of nanotechnology based coatings, 'Nansulate Aqua', fills a critical need in the oil and gas industry," states Francesca Crolley, VP of Operations and Marketing for Industrial Nanotech. "The world's demand for energy is increasing rapidly, forcing new methods of accessing fuel sources. In the North Sea, natural gas emerges from the ocean floor at depth of over 2 miles at a temperature of 203 degrees Fahrenheit and must be kept as warm as possible as it is transported through the freezing North Sea to avoid a buildup of hydrates and the resulting potential blockage of the pipeline. Off the coast of California, oil from tankers is offloaded at pumping stations and transported through underwater pipes to holding tanks onshore. Maintaining an adequately high temperature during transport under the Pacific is critical to maintaining sufficient volume flow. This type of problem faces the oil natural gas industry worldwide and we provide an innovative, easy-to-use, cost efficient solution."
Nansulate Aqua is available immediately to commercial customers and the formulations can be customized to suit the specific needs, application parameters, and environmental conditions of a specific project.
