Aminex: JV Secures Rig for Nyuni East
Aminex PLC
Aminex PLC said that the Nyuni joint venture in Tanzania has contracted the Caroil-6 drilling rig to drill two wells on the Nyuni East Songo-Songo PSA, as already announced to shareholders. Under the contract this rig is due to be delivered to the Nyuni partners as soon as a new development well, SS-10, has been completed on the adjoining Songo-Songo gas field by Pan-African Tanzania Ltd. (PAT).
PAT had anticipated delivering the rig to the Nyuni partners this month but has now announced that problems with mechanical equipment on the rig will result in a temporary suspension of drilling operations at Songo-Songo while mechanical repairs are carried out with the consequence that the rig will not now be delivered to Aminex in June as planned.
Aminex anticipates that there may be a delay of several weeks. Meanwhile Aminex has finalized agreements for services, supplies and personnel and extensive site preparation is virtually complete. Shareholders will be kept advised of progress on the rig repairs.
