"This acquisition has strengthened our capabilities to deliver world class logistics solutions in the energy sector. Synergy has built a good reputation in the South East Asian oil and gas industries and we are delighted that they will be joining the growing Agility family," said Wolfgang Hollermann, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific for Agility.
The deal will strengthen Agility's project forwarding capability in the region, particularly in the oil and gas sector in which Synergy is well established. The acquisition will also include subsidiary PT Synergy Indonesia (PTSI) based in Batam, Indonesia. The company operates its own tugs, barges as well as a fleet of transportation equipment in Batam with plans to expand further in the marine and projects sectors.
The Synergy companies will benefit from Agility's global presence in more than 100 countries and its network capabilities, providing its own customers end-to-end services through a single logistics services provider.
Mark Siegert, Managing Director Asia-Pacific, Agility Project Logistics (the new name for TransOceanic) who was instrumental in negotiating the buy out said: "We are always looking to build our capabilities in strategically important sectors and Synergy will provide our customers in the energy industry with experience and expertise in this exciting and challenging field."
"This is a great opportunity for SSPL and SLPL and its customers to improve their reach through Agility's network. We will now be able to enjoy greater efficiency and connectivity through joining a truly global company," said Joseph Ooi, Managing Director, Synergy group. Agility is a global provider of integrated supply chain solutions with more than 20,000 employees, 450 offices in 100 countries worldwide and over US$4.5 billion in annual revenue. A publicly traded company, Agility offers its customers a genuinely personalized service and flexible solutions tailored to meet their individual business needs. These are supported by Agility's comprehensive network of warehousing facilities, transportation and freight management services.
