India Plans New Petroleum Licensing Round in August

NEW DELHI May 14, 2007 (Dow Jones Newswires)

The Indian government plans to offer as many as 80 oil and gas exploration and production blocks for bidding under the seventh and latest round of its New Exploration Licensing Policy, a senior government official said Monday.

"The new NELP round is likely to be launched in August," the official, who didn't wish to be identified, told reporters.

Previously, the government had planned to launch the latest NELP round in the April to May period.
