Venture Production reports that the Ash exploration well drilled on block 16/12a in the UK North Sea has failed to encounter hydrocarbons.

The well commenced drilling from the Tiffany platform in block 16/17 on December 7, 2006 and reached total depth of 19,300 feet on April 25, 2007. The wellbore may be suitable for partial reuse to provide water injection support to the South Sycamore field and so the well has been suspended pending further review.
