The first phase of the sea trials, which started on September 9, 2002, is now completed. The initial tests were performed in sheltered waters in Halifax and included stability, engines, thrusters and various other system tests. The rig left Halifax Thursday evening to relocate to deeper waters for completion of the remainder of the testing program, including testing the dynamic positioning system. The final stages of the sea trials will be carried out on or close to the first well to be drilled for EnCana offshore Nova Scotia, Canada, and will also comprise testing of the BOP/riser system and drilling equipment. It is expected that the rig will start operations under the EnCana drilling contract during the first half of October 2002.
