Kidnappers Release Lukoil CFO

Lukoil reports that Sergei Kukura has been released by his kidnappers. A Lukoil spokesman said Mr. Kukura is at home. No further details were provided concerning the terms of the release or Mr. Kukura's condition.

The Lukoil CFO was abducted on his way to work on September 12. Men wearing camouflage clothing and masks stopped his car and allegedly handcuffed his driver and bodyguard, knocking them out cold and leaving them in Mr. Kukura's car in a remote area. Mr. Kukura was then taken out of the car and driven away in another vehicle. Russian newspapers reported that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of $6 million for his release. Lukoil did not confirm the report.
