EMP Halts Production Sepanjang Due to FSO Problem
PT Energi Mega Persada's subsidiary, EMP Kangean Ltd, has temporarily stopped oil production from the Sepanjang Oil Field offshore Indonesia due to technical problems at its leased Floating Storage Offshore (FSO) unit.
Mr. Chris Newton, ENRG's President Director said that "technical problems at the FSO prevented the second lifting from taking place which has led to crude inventory in the FSO reaching capacity and hence the need for the field production shut in."
"EMP Kangean is now working with the FSO operator to rectify the problem and to recommence safe operations as soon as possible."
Mr. Newton went on to say that "the temporary stoppage is a disappointment as the well and underlying reservoir were actually performing ahead of expectations. Initial expectations are that FSO operations will not recommence for several weeks."
