Oilex Aborts Test at OS II Reservoir in Cambay-72 Well as Sand Fills Tubing
|Tuesday, April 10, 2007
Oilex Ltd said it aborted testing at its OS II reservoir in the Cambay-72 well, onshore Gujarat in India, on April 9 as sand filled in the tubing to a height of about 100 metres, causing plugging of down-hole equipment and erratic flow.
The operator for the Cambay Field Joint Venture said there were some delays to the programme but added that testing will resume when sand control equipment is installed.
Oilex added while there have been operational difficulties, results to date indicate that the OS II reservoir is capable of producing at significant, commercial rates and that the oil rim with overlying gas cap fluid model interpreted in this part of the Cambay field is valid.
The Cambay Production Sharing Contract is held 45 pct by Oilex and 55 pct by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
