Ecopetrol Aiming for 11.8Mm3/d Gas Output This Year
Colombia's state oil company Ecopetrol this year aims to produce 418Mf3/d (11.8Mm3/d) of natural gas compared to 383Mf3/d in 2006, the company said in a presentation.
The country's total gas output last year grew 7.7% to 699Mf3/d compared to 2005 and this year is expected to reach 751Mf3/d, the company said.
Ecopetrol this year will focus its gas business efforts on expanding and increasing gas and LPG processing at its Cusiana plant, which began operations in 2006.
The company also plans to advance development of the Gibraltar field to sell 30Mf3/d and guarantee compression in the Guajira basin to meet local demand and exports to Venezuela.
Colombia's government recently said it would guarantee natural gas supply this year to fuel thermo generation in case hydro output drops due to weather phenomenon El Nino.
