Pemex Sets Feb 165Mm3/d gas Output Record

Mexico's state oil company Pemex set a natural gas production record last month, averaging 5.81Bf3/d (165Mm3/d), the company said in a statement.

Average gas output in the first two months of this year rose 14% to 5.77Bf3/d compared to the same period in 2006.

The January-February increase was due to higher associated and non-associated gas production, which rose 8.2% and 22.9% respectively to 3.27Bf3/d and 2.51Bf3/d, the statement said.

In 2006, Pemex produced an average of 5.36Bf3/d, up 11% from the previous year.

The northern region was the principal producing area last year at 2.23Bf3/d, followed by the marine regions of the Sonda de Campeche (1.78Bf3/d) and the southern region (1.35Bf3/d).
