Sonsub Extends Agreement with Duffy and McGovern in West Africa

Duffy and McGovern has secured a contract extension worth more than 160,000 with Sonsub in West Africa.

Duffy and McGovern struck up a new relationship with Sonsub, part of the Saipem Group, in August 2006, supplying the global subsea construction firm with an office module and two of its four-man sleeper accommodation units.

Sonsub has taken up an extension option on the deal as it continues work offshore Angola, putting the combined value at more than 240,000 over an 18-month period.

The units being used by Sonsub are fitted with high-specification air conditioning systems to combat high temperatures in the area.

Duffy and McGovern, which was acquired by HB Rentals in January, won the initial deal due to its ability to mobilize its bespoke units quickly from stock in Aberdeen.

Commercial director, Craig Russell, said: "We fully understand Sonsub's need for the latest technology and fast-delivery on a global scale and are delighted to continue our work with them in West Africa utilizing our extensive fleet."

Duffy and McGovern's presence in West Africa has continued to grow in recent years through growing demand from operators working on new field developments in the region, with its units taken by firms including Norson Services, Metrol, Prosafe and CNR International.

Sonsub specializes in subsea intervention work using remotely operated robotic systems designed for ultra-deepwater projects.
