The Eirik Raude has been taken out of operation and is on its way to a shipyard in Newfoundland to repair a small crack in one of the bracings. This course of action has been taken in agreement with the client and the class society, DNV.

There is no potential risk to the structural integrity of the rig or to personnel on board the rig, but Ocean Rig wishes to ensure that the rig is fully fit for purpose to complete the well in progress under the currently extreme weather conditions in the area.

The repair time including transit is estimated to approximately three weeks depending on weather conditions.

Ocean Rig owns and operates two of the world's largest and most modern drilling rigs, built for ultra deep waters and extreme weather conditions. The units are currently operating offshore Angola and Canada.
