In this role Erlend will be responsible for the global business development efforts of PSL's Wells Division, which includes Modular Rig Sets, Hydraulic Work Over (HWO), Coiled Tubing, slickline and pumping operations.
A key aim of the new VP post is developing PSL's international sales with particular emphasis on the Middle East and newly opened Algeria base. Erlend will also oversee the creation of PSL's new Well Services international sales and marketing group.
Since Erlend joined the oil and gas services specialist in April 2005 as the UK Business Development Manager (Wells), the well services division has enjoyed one of its busiest periods in the company's history.
Of particular note is the successful introduction of a new wireline service, resulting in two significant North Sea contract wins. The HWO department also demonstrated the value of their unique technologies with major contract wins from Apache and Talisman.
PSL Operations Director, Phil Bentley, said of the appointment: "Our company has experienced exceptional growth in the past three years, so much so, we now need VPs for each of our main service lines and Erlend's appointment is a continuation of this strategy.
"He will ensure that our wells division is harnessing its resources in the best possible manner to provide maximum value to clients while prioritising future resources to maintain a rapid but sustainable growth."
Erlend added: "PSL has an excellent track record for developing new technologies and improving on our existing services to meet client expectations.
"Our ATEX Hot Oiler Unit which we built for BP at Wytch Farm is a world first while our next generation modular sidetrack drilling and workover rig will be another first with its maximum lift of 10T. The opportunity to take this type of revolutionary technology to international markets is a very exciting prospect."
