Bolivia to Release Hydrocarbons Restructuring Details Next Week

Bolivia's hydrocarbons ministry concluded the presentation of its proposal to restructure the hydrocarbons sector in capital La Paz on Wednesday night, a ministry spokesperson told BNamericas.

The ministry is compiling the information and expects to release a document detailing the plan next week, which also will be published on the ministry's website, the spokesperson said.

Hydrocarbons minister Carlos Villegas has said the ministry aims to create a national hydrocarbons agency to regulate operations of state oil company YPFB.

The new agency, dubbed Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos, would be independent of YPFB and replace the current regulator Superintendencia de Hidrocarburos.

The sector overhaul also would reorganize YPFB to establish a board and four managerial departments in La Paz, plus 15 sub-managerial departments in hydrocarbons-producing regions.
