Norsk Hydro Comes Up Dry at Zita

Norsk Hydro has concluded drilling at exploration well 6507/11-7. The objective of the well was to examine the potential for oil and gas in a prospect called Zita, located near the Asgard field in the Norwegian Sea.

Exploration well 6507/11-7 was drilled to a total depth of 2924 meters below the sea surface, and concluded in Lower Jurassic rocks. No mobile hydrocarbons were proven. The well has now been permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 6507/11-7 was drilled by the semisub, Transocean Winner, in 294 meters of water. The Transocean Winner will now continue to drill an exploration well in production license 169, operated by Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS.

Licensees in production license 263 are Norsk Hydro as operator with 40%; Statoil with 30% and DNO with 30%.
