Fugro Acquires Geotechnical Firms in UK, Austria
Fugro has completed the acquisition of Aperio Limited, United Kingdom. Aperio has 35 employees and an annual turnover of EUR 3 million. Fugro has also acquired GECO Umwelttechnik GmbH in Austria. GECO employs 15 people and has an annual turnover of around EUR 1 million. The purchase price for these acquisitions amounts to a total of EUR 4.2 million.
Aperio, based near Cambridge, UK, is a leading provider of geophysical surveys in connection with infrastructure assets such as roads, railways and airports. Aperio's online database contains data from much of the UK road network, providing easy access to road construction data for clients such as major infrastructure owners and their consultants.
GECO, based in Bruch an der Mur, Austria, is a specialist in geotechnical investigations using innovative data acquisition methods. GECO is involved in most of the major tunneling projects in Austria for clients such as the national railway and civil engineering companies.
Aperio will be renamed Fugro Aperio Limited and will be incorporated into Fugro's Geotechnical Division. GECO will form part of the same division under the name of Fugro Austria. Fugro's global network will provide good opportunities for both companies to extend their services into the international markets.
