Gazprom is gearing up to begin drilling operations on the Obsko-Tazovsky bay in the northern Karskoye Sea. Three wells are scheduled to be drilled over the next few months to evaluate the gas reserves. It is estimated that Obsky bay holds approximately 400 million tons of oil and over a trillion cubic meters of natural gas. Gazprom has planned an aggressive six-year project to drill 35 wells in the area.
