Forest Oil Corporation announced the discovery of a significant natural gas find at High Island 116 in the Gulf of Mexico. R&B Falcon s jackup, Cliffs 200, drilled the B-2 well to a total depth of 15,975 feet MD and 13,694 feet TVD, and logged an estimated total of 412 net TVD feet of pay. 150 net TVD feet of pay was encountered in the Rob L sands and 262 net TVD feet of pay was encountered in the Rob M sands. All net pay exists in overpressured zones. In addition to the announced logged pay, Forest is currently evaluating an additional 250 net TVD feet of prospective pay in the Rob M sands through core analysis. Forest is also evaluating the drilling of additional wells to accelerate production from sands discovered in this well and may also drill a prospective offset location targeting similar sands. High Island 116 is 54.75% owned and operated by Forest and 45.25% owned by Louis Dreyfus Natural Gas Corp. Initial production from the B-2 well is expected to commence in November 1999.
