BJ Taps Micheli to Head Europe-Africa Unit

BJ Services has named Umberto Micheli the new region manager for the Europe – Africa Region of the company's Well Services Division. In his new role, he oversees all aspects of operations, marketing and financial management of the division in the region. With more than 26 years experience in the oilfield service industry, Micheli brings an in-depth knowledge of well services technology, operations and management.

Prior to his promotion, Micheli served for one year as director with the International Division in Houston, during which time he was responsible for managing a subsea project in cooperation with a major customer.

Since joining BJ Services in 1980 as a trainee in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, he has served in a number of posts around the world. He was region operations manager for Latin America in Rio de Janeiro, Italy country manager, coiled tubing operations manager in Canada, underbalanced drilling service line manager in Canada, and Indonesia country manager, among others.

Micheli is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He reports to Dave Dunlap, vice president and president of the International Division of BJ Services in Houston, Texas.
