Schlumberger Wins Drilling Contract from Statoil
A contract initially worth about NOK 500 million for integrated drilling services on a number of Statoil fields has been awarded to Schlumberger Norge. The contract is for a period of two years with options for two renewals of the same duration, the job covers directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), mud logging and drilling optimiaation.
"Schlumberger has been chosen after an overall assessment of quality, technical content and price found that its bid was the best," says Magnar Fagerbakke. He heads the rig and drilling contracts department of the production support unit in Exploration & Production Norway.
The contract covers Statfjord, Gullfaks, their respective satellites and Veslefrikk in the North Sea, as well as Kristin and Norne in the Norwegian Sea. It also includes an option for Vigdis, Tordis, Snorre and Visund in the North Sea, currently operated by Norsk Hydro but due to be taken over by Statoil on January 1st.
