InterOil Starts Well Program in Talara

Oslo-based oil company InterOil Exploration & Production has begun a drilling campaign for 10 wells on blocks 3 and 4 in northern Peru's Talara, the company said in a statement.

The company has already started drilling the first well to a depth of 955m, discovering a 75m net oil column in sandstones. The work marks the first well drill in the blocks since April.

InterOil aims to put the well into production in November.

The company, which has analyzed new seismic 3D data in the past five months, plans to drill the remaining wells by mid-January.
