Pemex Extends Burgos E&P Bidding to January

Mexican state oil company Pemex's E&P unit Pemex Exploracion y Produccion (PEP) has extended to January the deadline to bid on three E&P natural gas contracts in the Burgos basin.

The international tenders are for the Nejo, Monclova and Euro blocks and entail works related to the development, infrastructure and maintenance of non-associated gas fields.

Offers for Nejo, Monclova and Euro now are due January 9, 16 and 23 respectively versus previous deadlines of October 24, November 7 and November 14, according to separate PEP statements. At least 14 groups have purchased bidding rules for the different contracts.

Works for all three 15-year contracts are slated to begin in March 2007 instead of January and will take place in Tamaulipas state.

The works total nearly US$2bn and aim to increase natural gas production by 200Mf3/d (5.7Mm3/d). Burgos output hit a record 1.34Bf3/d in July, while output from the basin is expected to reach almost 2Bf3/d in 2011.
