Gulfport Energy Says Fire Closes West Cote Blanche Bay Field

On October 12th, a fire was reported north of Gulfport Energy Corp.'s production facilities in the West Cote Blanche Bay field in southern Louisiana involving two contracted vessels that were performing work on our behalf in the field.

"Our first priority is the safety of our employees and contractors," said Gulfport Chief Executive Officer Jim Palm. "At this point, all Gulfport employees have been accounted for. We are continuing to try to gather information about our contractors at the scene. We are deeply concerned for all those involved acknowledging the severity of the situation."

As a precaution, Gulfport has temporarily shut-in all production from the field; however, no damage has been reported to Gulfport's West Cote Blanche Bay production facilities.
