Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services' (DMAS) units will be used by Schlumberger on three rigs in the Central Block and Hibiscus field in the North Coast Marine Area development over a six month period.
Staff from Bg Group and BHP Billiton will make use of the units, which are fully A60 fire-resistance rated and meet both Solas and IMO regulations, and will be delivered from DMAS' Port of Spain base.
The contract follows BHP Billiton's award of a multi-million dollar contract to Schlumberger to provide directional drilling, MWD and LWD services for their ongoing exploration and development projects.
The three engineering cabins will be able to be moved around from project-to-project, wherever they are required and have been rented on contracts worth US $48,600 for a minimum of six months.
The first unit, an 8 x 20 foot cabin, is being installed on the land-based Nabors 116 rig in the Central Block for BG, while an 8 x 15 foot unit will provide facilities offshore on the GSF Aleutian Key in the Hibiscus field, owned by GlobalSantaFe. The final unit will be used by BHP Billiton directly and is an 8 x 16 foot engineering module.
Vice president of US operations for DMAS Glenn Aguilar said: "The Gulf of Mexico is the biggest growth market in offshore oil and gas exploration at the moment, and is bringing us continued unprecedented demand.
"Our relationship with Schlumberger Trinidad is growing and we are delighted to see them coming back to us with repeat business within the space of just a few months."
